CCIKA was founded in 2002 by Sensei James Carter, teaching traditional Shotokan Karate with many Local, National, and a World Championship to his credentials. In Portugal (2000), Sensei Carter became the first American Black Belt to win a Gold Medal in Kumite (fighting) at the Wolrd Shotokan Championship Karate Tournament.

In 2009 Master James Carter Traveled to South Korea to visit the Kukiwan (World Tae Kwon Do Headquarters) and tour the countryside where he was awarded 6th Dan. Master Carter has been elected Public Relations Committee Chairman for (CUTA) California Unified Tae Kwon Do Association and the (NCTA) Northern California Tae Kwon Do Association.

Master/Sensei Carter has created a combination of martial arts and fitness to bring together a well rounded workout that can be suited for everyone. He started the first CCIKA school at the Alviso and Berryessa Community Centers in the city of San Jose, California, in 2002. He has since expanded CCIKA to more than ten community centers, public schools, and private institutions throughout the bay area. CCIKA also has affiliates in England, Phillippines and Sri Lanka. Today CCIKA World Headquarters is located at 14910 Camden Avenue, San Jose, California 95124

The aim of CCIKA is to foster the growth of legitimate karate; to foster a sound mind, a proper spirit, a sound philosophy, and to improve the physical well-being of our members through the art of Shotokan Karate.
