Kanazawa Hirokazu Kancho is a living legend
in the world of karate-do, and is arguably the most famous karate-ka
alive. As one of Funakoshi Gichin Sensei's last students
he was one of the first to complete the Japan Karate Association's
instructor training program in the 1950's.
He was the first kumite champion in the
1st All-Japan Karate-do Championship in 1957, and repeated
as grand champion in 1958 and 1959. In 1977, he founded
Shotokan Karate-do International Federation (SKIF), now on of the largest and most
respected karatedo organizations in the world.
As the author and producer of many karate
training books and videos, Kanazawa encourages all karateka
to cooperate and train together to promote respect and harmony.
Kanazawa Hirokazu Kancho honors us by displaying
the Camp Carter Karate Association's uniform patch.
